osCommerce Lesson 1

step 1: Download the following files from osCommerce website:

Windows Package (zip; md5sum: 5a915963091ea99f6338287583eb49d0)

» Download at SunSite (Europe)
» Download at SourceForge (America)

Linux/Unix Package (tgz; md5sum: b0900462a25e5c51630aca8772f4e384)

» Download at SunSite (Europe)
» Download at SourceForge (America)

save it and if you do not have a winzip you can download it for FREE here

Step 2: Open an account with any webhosting : I use 1and1 include 5 domains for only $2.99/month
go to your control panel click on (webspace & access then FTP Account.)

create a new FTP User and a new domain

Step 3. Download FREE CoreFTP Lite from either of the following link

Step 4. open your CoreFTP - File - Connect
Fill in the information:
Site name: "what ever you want to call it"
Host /IP/URL: www.YourDomainName.Com
Username: FTP username
Password: FTP password
then click on connect button

Step 5. transfer from unzip oscommerce to your webhosting using the CoreFTP program

open your source on the left panel and transfer it to the right panel using right arrow button
after all of them got transfered.
Go to http://YourDomainName.Com/install
and it will bring you to the installation panel ... follow the instruction in the manual

Why online store? Well, once you start selling on ebay you have to consider opening your own online store. Why? there lots of reason to this questions.

you do not want to have just 1 income stream.. always have at least 2-3 minimum.
if one of your stream is not working well at the moment, the other will still be on.
